Base Settled 27.5% of September Onchain Card Spending

Base settled $225.3M of the $819.8M in September 2026 onchain stablecoin card spending tracked by Paymentscan, a 27.5% share. Optimism followed at 16.1% and Solana at 13.9%. These figures exclude the dashboard's optional offchain data.

Polygon's share fell from 25.6% in September 2025 to 6.4% a year later. Yet its measured dollar volume rose from $31.02M to $52.75M. A falling share and rising usage can coexist when the tracked market grows faster than one network.

That distinction prevents a market-share chart from becoming a verdict on whether people stopped using a chain. The same dataset's total rose from $121.1M to $819.8M across those two Septembers; the denominator changed substantially.

These are settlement-network metrics for tracked card programmes, not counts of merchants accepting Base directly. They help compare payment infrastructure, but do not tell a prospective cardholder which deposit network their card supports. Use the card's own funding instructions for that decision, and keep the spending basis, period and offchain-data setting fixed when comparing the dashboard.
