BitPay Adds Crypto Purchases Inside Checkout

BitPay now lets shoppers buy additional crypto during checkout when they do not have enough to pay a merchant. They can add the missing funds and complete the purchase in the same checkout flow.

The crypto purchases go through BitPay's on-ramp partners. This feature is not available in the UK.

The purchase covers only the shortfall: with $70 of crypto in the wallet and a $100 order, the on-ramp partner sells the missing $30. That $30 is a separate purchase from the partner, so the partner sets its price and any purchase fee.
