Wirex and Pulsar show where stablecoin cards are heading
Wirex said Pulsar Money is opening early access with Wirex providing infrastructure for cards, named accounts, and on/off-ramps. Arc's earlier Pulsar note describes a stablecoin-native money app using USDC and EURC for balances, payments, card activity, and multi-currency flows.
This reads as a product direction signal, not as a reason to change cards today.
The card is only the visible part
The interesting part is not that another app wants a card. Plenty of crypto apps do. The useful part is that Wirex is selling the stack underneath: wallets, cards, accounts, multi-chain deposits, and fiat rails through Wirex BaaS.
Wirex's own BaaS docs describe Visa cards connected to user wallets, automatic crypto-to-fiat conversion at the point of sale, EUR SEPA and USD ACH accounts, and deposits that can convert into a unified balance. That is the sort of infrastructure a consumer app needs before the card stops feeling like a separate crypto feature.
Five details decide whether it is usable
Early access is not the same as live availability. Arc also notes that Pulsar product surfaces may roll out in phases, with availability depending on launch details, supported regions, and product requirements.
The checklist is short:
- which countries can actually apply
- whether the card is virtual, physical, or both
- which assets can fund spending
- what conversion spread or card fees apply
- whether named accounts are available in the relevant region
Until those details are public, this is more useful as a stablecoin-card trend than as a finished card review.
The read
Wirex plus Pulsar is worth watching because it puts card spending, accounts, and stablecoin settlement into the same consumer-money product. That is where crypto cards become less like prepaid experiments and more like app-level banking infrastructure.
It is not yet a replacement for a card already in use. The rollout is worth tracking, comparing the eventual terms against the current Wirex Card, and test with a small payment once the product is actually available in your country.
