MetaMask Card passes 25,000 addresses

Payment Scan says MetaMask Card has crossed 25,000 all-time active users. Its data page shows the cleaner metric as 25,013 total addresses, alongside $75.14 million in total volume and 1,365,263 total transactions.

That wording matters. An address count is not the same as verified unique people, and it does not prove that every cardholder is active today. It is still useful because MetaMask Card is not a normal prepaid exchange card. The card spends from a wallet-controlled balance, with merchant payment over Mastercard and supported assets handled at checkout.

The signal is in repeated card activity

The stronger number is the combination of addresses, transactions and volume. A card can get signups from hype; it needs repeated transactions to show that people are using it for ordinary payments. Payment Scan's monthly table shows MetaMask Card activity building from small 2024 volumes into multi-million-dollar monthly spend through 2025 and 2026.

That does not make MetaMask Card the best card by default. It means the self-custody card model has enough visible usage to compare against exchange cards and custodial app cards on more than marketing claims.

The card terms still decide the choice, not the milestone

The active-address milestone does not answer the user-level questions: supported country, KYC result, token support, gas cost, FX fee, cashback cap and whether Apple Pay or Google Pay works in the user's setup. MetaMask's own card page also separates the free virtual card from the paid Metal tier, so terms can differ materially by tier and region.

The practical read is narrow: MetaMask Card is no longer only an interesting design. It now has a visible usage base. The decision still has to come from the card terms and the way wallet-based spending fits the user's normal payments.
