Travelling With Krak Card
Krak charges nothing on currency conversion from its side, which makes it a reasonable travel card within the region where it works. Whether that advantage survives contact with a foreign terminal is mostly up to you.
Always take the local currency
Terminals and ATMs abroad will offer to bill you in your home currency. That is dynamic currency conversion, priced by the merchant's processor rather than by Mastercard, and it is reliably worse — often by several percent. Declining it protects more value than any fee schedule.
Spend from a fiat balance where you can
The zero applies to Kraken's own charges, not to the spread on converting crypto at the point of sale. If you top up euro or sterling before a trip and spend from that, the published zero is close to what you actually pay. If every meal converts an asset, it is not.
Small things worth doing before you go
Check the card is offered where you are travelling, keep a second payment method that is not tied to the same account, and remember that ATM withdrawals earn no cashback and may carry the operator's own fee.
