How Krak Card Cashback Tiers Actually Work
Kraken restructured Krak rewards in March 2026, and the new design is unusual enough to be worth understanding before comparing the headline rate to anything else.
Tiered by balance, not by spend
Most cards scale cashback with how much you spend. Krak scales it with how much you hold: the tier is set by your 30-day average balance across Krak, Kraken and Kraken Pro. As listed at publication, that runs from no cashback below a small threshold up to 2% at the highest balance band, with steps in between.
Rewards pay instantly, in euro, sterling or bitcoin, with no monthly cap.
The top rate is priced for people who already hold a large balance
The top rate is priced for people who already keep a large balance on the platform. If you do, the rate is excellent and uncapped. If you do not, the effective rate is whatever your actual balance band pays, and comparing the advertised maximum against another card's flat rate will mislead you.
The honest comparison is your band's rate against the alternative, and if you would need to move a significant balance onto the platform to reach a higher band, count that decision on its own merits rather than as a cashback optimisation.
