COCA Removes Its Monthly Cashback Cap and Speeds Up Claims

COCA has rebuilt its Loyalty Program around two changes: cashback no longer stops accruing after a monthly spending threshold, and rewards no longer wait for a fixed payout date.

Under the previous structure, each tier's cashback rate applied only up to a monthly spending cap, after which further purchases dropped to a flat 1%. An Elite user, for example, earned 8% on the first $10,000 of eligible spending each month and 1% on anything beyond that. Under the new rules, the tier rate applies to all eligible spending with no monthly ceiling — an Elite user now earns 8% cashback regardless of how much they spend in a month.

The claim timing changed as well. Cashback, subscription rebates, referral rewards and plastic-card rebates used to pay out once a month, on the 10th. Now rewards land in a Rewards balance as soon as they're earned, go through a processing window of up to 14 days, and can then be claimed once every 24 hours, with a $1 minimum per claim.

The tier ladder itself is unchanged in structure — cashback still scales with how much $COCA a user stakes:

  • Starter (0 $COCA staked): 1% cashback
  • Standard (300 $COCA): 3% cashback
  • Standard+ (1,000 $COCA): 4% cashback
  • Premium (3,000 $COCA): 5% cashback
  • Premium+ (10,000 $COCA): 6% cashback
  • Elite (30,000 $COCA): 8% cashback

The practical effect depends on how someone was already using the card. Under the old cap, a heavy spender at any tier below Elite had a real incentive to stake up to the next tier before a big purchase, since spend above the cap fell straight to 1%. With the cap gone, that math simplifies — the tier a user is staked at now applies uniformly, so the only decision left is whether the extra $COCA required for a higher tier is worth locking up for the rate difference.

The faster claim cycle mainly helps anyone who wants cashback available as spendable balance rather than parked until a fixed date. A processing window still applies before a reward is claimable, so newly earned cashback is not instantly liquid — it moves from earned to claimable on a rolling basis, not the day it's earned.
